About Rod

Rod Watson: Core Process Psychotherapy, Nelson, New Zealand NZ

I trained at the Karuna Institute in Core Process Psychotherapy. I have a first degree in Social Sciences and a Masters degree in Psychotherapy. I was registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) until coming to Nelson, and have been in private practice since 1999, working with a wide range of clients.

I began practising Buddhism in 1973 and yoga in 1986, and since 1993 I have been teaching yoga. These two activities are central to my life; both complement and enhance my work as a counsellor. Yoga, Buddhism, and counselling are all about understanding how we suffer and alleviating our suffering. I began training as a therapist in 1994, and have been in therapy myself since then.

I was born in 1950, and have two sons, now in their mid thirties living in the UK.  I was divorced in 1993 and remarried in 2005. I enjoy being in nature, modern American literature, music, food, and films.
