Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost?
Counselling sessions last one hour, and cost $75. Some concessionary spaces are available. Usually I suggest six initial weekly sessions. This will give us an opportunity to work together and make a decision about any further sessions.
How long will it last?
That depends on your own needs, and on how far down a path of personal awareness you wish to go. We can discuss how the therapy is going and decide when it is time to stop.
How do I know who to choose?
I usually suggest that you see two or three psychotherapists or counsellors before you make a decision. This is an important choice - you will want to find somebody who you feel comfortable enough with, and this depends more on the person than on the kind of therapy they practice.
When will sessions be?
I mostly work in the daytime, and try to arrange a regular weekly time for your sessions. I have a few early evening and early morning spaces. I work from Monday to Friday.
Are you qualified?
I have undergone Post-Graduate training in Core Process Psychotherapy, with regular updating of my skills and several years of experience. I am in supervision myself, and was registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy while practising in the UK.
Do you charge for missed sessions?
If you cancel a session within 24 hours, you will need to pay the full rate. Earlier cancellations are not charged for.
Are the sessions confidential?
Yes. What you say will not be repeated anywhere else, except for two instances.
Firstly, for the benefit of people who work with me I have regular supervision, but people are not identified by name.
Secondly, if I thought that by your actions you may endanger your own life or that of another, then I would discuss with you the possibility of finding additional help. I would only consider breaking confidentiality if this was unsuccessful for some reason. This is for your well-being and the well-being of others.
